HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 1988-21 - Board RESOLUTION NO. 8821 OF THE TRUCKEE DONNER PUBLIC UTILITY DISTRICT APPROVING SPECIFICATIONS AND CALLING FOR BIDS TO UPGRADE APPROXIMATELY 1,700 FEET OF POWER LINE WHEREAS, the failure of a transformer at the Truckee Substation has created a substantial risk so that any similar failures would cause the downtown Truckee area to be without power for a substantial period of time; and WHEREAS , a new replacement transformer, which would alleviate the risk, cannot be acquired and installed for many months; and WHEREAS , the electrical load could be transferred from the Truckee Substation to the Martis Valley Substation, but such a transfer would require an upgrade of approximately 1 ,700 feet of wire and would involve an expense in the area of $20 ,000; and WHEREAS, Public Contract Code Section 20205.1 requires that the District engage in competitive bidding on any expenditure in excess of $10,000; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Directors of the Truckee Donner Public Utility District as follows: 1. To authorize the President to issue a call for bids based on the plans and specifications on file in the Engineering Department for upgrading approximately 1 ,700 feet of power line in order to transfer the electrical load from the Truckee Substation to the Martis Valley Substation. 2. The date and time established for the bid opening is 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 30, 1988. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Directors of the Truckee Donner Public Utility District at a regular meeting thereof duly called and held in the District on the 5th day of July 1988 by the following roll call vote: AYES: Aguera, Maass, Sutton and Corbett.
