TRUCKEE DONNER PUBLIC UTILITY DISTRICT
ESTABLISHING POLICY REGARDING
CONTRACTOR INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS
WHEREAS, the Truckee Donner Public Utility District relies on
contractors of various sorts to provide services to the District;
and
WHEREAS, work by contractors can become the subject of claims by
third parties for alleged injuries, and such claims can be extended
to apply to Truckee Donner Public Utility District; and
WHEREAS, it is the intent of the Board of Directors to protect the
assets of the District from third party claims for damage caused by
contractors; and
WHEREAS, it is in the interest of the Truckee Donner Public Utility
District to provide incentive for contractors to use care in the
performance of work;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Directors of the
Truckee Donner Public Utility District as follows:
3.28. 020 Contractor Insurance Requirements - It is the
policy of the District to require contractors performing
work for the District to maintain appropriate insurance
naming the District as an additional insured.
1. The form of insurance shall be broad form
comprehensive general liability which includes
coverage for bodily injury, property damage,
and products-completed operations; automobile
liability where applicable; workers
compensation.
2. The minimum amount of insurance shall be
$200, 000 per occurrence and $400,000 in the
aggregate. The General Manager shall consult
with the insurance broker of record and/or an
independent risk manager for advice on the
insurance requirements for contracts that
exceed $10, 000, or that pose risk that, in the
judgment of the General Manager, warrant more
than the minimum insurance.
3. The General Manager shall, after
consulting with the insurance broker of record
and/or an independent risk manager, specify
.^-� insurance requirements in contracts he is
authorized to let; or, in the case of
contracts that must be let by Board action,
?0911- the General Manager shall, after consulting
with the insurance broker of record and/or an
independent risk manager, recommend insurance
requirements to the Board of Directors.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Directors of the Truckee Donner
Public Utility District at a meeting duly called and held within
the District on the 4th day of September, 1990, by the following
roll call vote:
AYES: Aguera, Corbett, Curran and Maass.
NOES: Sutton.
ABSENT: None.
