HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 1977-30 - Board RESOLUTION NO. 7730 OF TRUCKEE-DONNER PUBLIC UTILITY DISTRICT POLICY STATEMENT IN OPPOSITION TO ASSEMBLY BILL 2035 WHEREAS, on August 4 , 1977 , Assemblyman Eugene A. Chappie introduced AB 2035 regarding the pumping facilities at Donner Lake; and WHEREAS, said Bill was the result of a request from the Truckee Sanitary District purporting to provide emergency fire protection for the Donner Lake area; and WHEREAS, neither the Truckee-Donner Public Utility District nor the Truckee Fire Protection District were consulted with respect to this matter; and WHEREAS, one of the facilities in question is currently owned by Dart Industries and is subject to neg otiations with the Truckee-Donner Public Utility District, and, therefore, the present use of the pump would not provide any fire assistance to the Donner Lake area; and WHEREAS, there is no interconnection between the pumping system in question and the Donner Lake Utility Company; and WHEREAS, at the Special Meeting of August 29 , 1977 , the Board of Directors unanimously voted to request Assemblyman Chappie to withdraw this Bill; and WHEREAS, the Truckee Fire Commission has declined to endorse AB 2035; and WHEREAS, a letter of September 2 , 1977 , was sent from A. Milton Seymour requesting the withdrawal of AB 2035, and Mr. Chappie ' s response of September 7, 1977, indicated his it 0 0 . intention to keep the Bill alive until the problem has been solved. " NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Directors of the Truckee-Donner Public Utility District, as follows : That the policy of the Board of Directors is strongly in opposition to AB 2035 and the implications thereof. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Directors of the TRUCKEE-DONNER PUBLIC UTILITY DISTRICT at a meeting of the Board of Directors held within the District on the 3rd day of October, 1977, by the following roll call vote: AYES : R.
