HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 1981-65 - Board RESOLUTION NO, 8165 OF THE TRUCKEE DONNER PUBLIC UTILITY DISTRICT AUTHORIZING EMERGENCY PURCHASE OF 40 HP LINE SHAFT VERTICLE TURBINE PUMP FOR THE SOUTHSIDE PUMP STATION WHEREAS,, the District Engineer has determined that a 40 HP Line Shaft Verticle Turbine Pump is needed for the critically deficient Southside subservice area in order to enable the District to continue to meet its obligations and to ensure the delivery of water to its customers ; and WHEREAS, the District Engineer further reported that failure of the existing pump at the Southside Substation had occurred on or about August 4th, resulting in a reduction of the water supply and creating an emergency situation; and WHEREAS, the General Manager has determined that the Southside pump is inoperative and. concurs in the District Engineer ' s determination and recommendation that the District purchase the pump for a cost not to exceed $14, 500 ; and WHEREAS, by virtue of the necessity to obtain the pump in order to maintain a safe level of water supply, a great emergency exists, requiring that the Board dispense with competitive bidding in order to- immediately purchase the pump, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Directors of the Truckee Donner Public Utility District as follows : 1. The District ' s General Manager is authorized to immediately purchase a 40 HP Line Shaft Verticle Turbine Pump for the Southside Substation at a cost not to exceed $14 , 500 and that the competitive bidding procedure be dispensed with in order to respond to the emergency situation as set forth above, PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Directors of the Truckee Donner Public Utility District at a meeting thereof duly called and held in the District on the day of 1981, by the following roll call vote: AYES : NOES: ABSENT: TRUCKEE DONNER PUBLIC UTILITY DISTRICT By Roberta C.
