HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 1994-36 - Board RESOLUTION NO. 9436 OF THE TRUCKEE DONNER PUBLIC UTILITY DISTRICT ADOPTING EMPLOYEE WELLNESS PROGRAM TDPUD CODE CHAPTER 4.48 WHEREAS, the Injury and Illness Prevention Program adopted by the State of California effective July 1, 1991 and District Code Chapter 4.46 adopted December 30, 1992 requires the District to administer a comprehensive and continuous occupational injury and illness prevention program for all employees; and WHEREAS, it is in the interest of the District and its customers to promote employee wellness as a means to control use of sick leave, to control medical insurance costs and to help avoid job-related illness and accidents, and WHEREAS, an employee wellness program through Tahoe Forest Hospital has been developed; NOW, THEREFORE, BE 1T RESOLVED by the Board of Directors of the Truckee Donner Public Utility District that the attached policy, TDPUD Code of Policies, Chapter 4.48, Employee Wellness Program, is hereby adopted effective this date. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Directors at a meeting duly called and held within the District on the 17th day of October 1994 by the following roll call vote: AYES: Aguera, Corbett, Jones, Sutton and Maass. Craig, Deputy Distrief Clerk . smc s CHAPTER 4.48 EMPLOYEE WELLNESS PROGRAM Sections: 4.48.010 Policy 4.48.020 Program Components 4.48.030 Participation by Employees 4.48.040 District Liability 4.48.050 Use of District Time 4.48.060 Confidentiality of Employees' Medical History 4.48.010 Policy - It is the policy of the District to promote the wellness of its employees as required by the Injury and Illness Prevention Program Act adopted by the State of California effective July 1, 1991, and in compliance with the District's IIPP adopted December 30, 1992. (See Code Chapter 4.46.) It is also in the interest of the District and its customers to promote employee wellness as a means to control use of sick leave, to control medical insurance costs and to help avoid job-related illness and accidents. 4.48.020 Program Components - The Employee Wellness Program will consist of the following components: a) Health risk appraisal; b,) Activity groups; c) Awareness programs; d) Lower back pain seminar; e) Auto/seatbelt safety program; f) Incentive program. 4.48.030 Participation by Employees- Participation by employees in Wellness Program activities is strictly voluntary. 4.48.040 District Liability - Employees who wish to participate in Wellness Program activities and events sponsored by the District will be required to sign a waiver of liability holding the District harmless of any responsibility. 4.48.050 Use of District Time - Employees will be allowed to participate in the following programs and presentations during District time: Health screening; awareness/health education seminars; lower back pain seminar/workshop; automobile driver's safety. Employees will not be able to use District time for the following activities: Day hikes; healthy meals program. 4.48.060 Confidentiality of Employees' Medical history - Employee medical records are strictly confidential and will be shared by the employee and Tahoe Forest Hospital personnel only. TDPUD staff will not have access to any information obtained through the TFH health screenings.
