HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 1998-31 - Board RESOLUTION NO. 9831
OF THE
TRUCKEE DONNER PUBLIC UTILITY DISTRICT
FINDINGS OF FACT REGARDING THE SERVICE PANELS OF EXISTING CUSTOMERS
IN THE COMMERCIAL ROW AREA AND AUTHORIZING THE DISTRICT TO PAY FOR
CONVERSION OF EXISTING SERVICE PANELS AS PART OF THE INSTALLATION OF
AN UNDERGROUND DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM
WHEREAS, a goal of the District is to supply safe and dependable power in adequate quantities to
meet the needs of its customers; and
WHEREAS, many unsafe conditions and voltage problems exist with the current facilities in the
Commercial Row area of the system; and
WHEREAS, the District has adopted safety standards with respect to its electric distribution system
and some existing facilities located in the Commercial Row area do not meet these standards; and
WHEREAS, the condition of the Commercial Row facilities do not permit the addition of any new
customers or addition of load, including existing customers who desire to upgrade their facilities; and
WHEREAS, the District does not currently permit more than one service to an individual building as
is the case in several downtown Commercial Row locations; and
WHEREAS, many of the downtown Commercial Row meters are located in areas with limited access
and relocating them to the outside wall of the building would benefit the District by reducing staff time
to read the meters and, at the same time, make the breaker panels more accessible in the event of
emergencies; and
WHEREAS, for the above stated reasons the District initiated a project to install a new underground
distribution system in the Jiboom Street Alley replacing the old inadequate overhead system; and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Directors of the District adopt the above
recitals as its findings. Be it further resolved that the Board declares that it is in the public interest
and serves the public good for the District, in accordance with Chapter 7.56 of the District Codes,
to pay the cost of converting the panels and related equipment for the properties identified on Exhibit
A attached hereto, to the extent such panels are affected by installation of the underground facilities
in Jiboom Street Alley.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Directors at a meeting duly called and held within the
District on the 16T" day of December 1998 by the following roll call vote:
