Authorization To Submit Ground Source Heat Pump Pilot Project Grant
Application And To Enter Into Related Contract
WHEREAS, the Truckee Donner Public Utility District recognizes that it is in the interest of the
regional, state and national economy to develop alternative energy resources to reduce its
dependence on foreign oil; and,
WHEREAS, geothermal energy systems perform well in the Truckee area and its careful
development may provide benefits to the local community in the form of jobs and reduced fuel costs;
and
Whereas, FUNDS ARE AVAILABLE FROM THE Local Government Geothermal Resources
Revolving Subacc cunt in the General Fund through the California Energy Commission for grants and
loans to local governments for geothermal-related activities;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Directors of the District as follows:
1. That staff be authorized to submit an application to the California Energy Commission for
funds to execute the TDPUD/SMUD Ground Source Heat Pump Pilot Project, Phase II.
2. That, if recommended for funding by the Commission, the State Legislature and the
Department of Finance, the Board authorize the Truckee Donner Pubjjc Utility District to
accept a grant award up to the amount of the $200,000 application and that the General
Manager be authorized and empowered to execute all necessary contracts and agreements
and amendments thereto, to implement and carry out the purposes specified in the
application.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Directors at a meeting duly called and held within the
District on the 21 st day of June 2000 by the following roll call vote:
AYES: Aguera, Maass, Sutton, VanGundy and Hemig.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
