V CfT��1�"ti'f�IST"�t�T AUTtrv-rzr v �. r ON f �cA�.�FoRNIA�wERo�� St FOR F�1NDS E EC[!TE EQFffEF l6il#L HE�4�'�`t111�1`F 7"RA/NtIVG �ENTER� WHEREAS, the Truckee Donner Public Utility District recognizes that it is in the interest of the regional, state and national economy to develop alternative energy technologies to reduce dependence on foreign oil; and WHEREAS, the geothermal heat pump technology may serve the Truckee area and its careful development may provide benefits to the local community in the form of jobs and reduced fuel costs; and WHEREAS, funds are available from the Local Government Geothermal Resources Revolving Subaccount in the General Fund through the California Energy Commission for grants, loans, and contingent awards to local governments for geothermal-related activities. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Directors of the Truckee Donner Public .-� Utility District that staff be authorized to submit an application to the California Energy Commission for funds to execute the California Geothermal Heat Pump Training Center. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, if recommended for funding by the Commission, the State Legislature and the Department of Finance, the Board of Directors authorizes the Truckee Donner Public Utility District to accept a contingent award up to the amount of this application for$159,337 and that the General Manager acting for the Truckee Donner Public Utility District is hereby authorized and empowered to execute al/necessary contracts and agreements and amendments thereto, to implement and cant'out the purposes specified in the application. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Directors at a meeting duly called within the District on the third day of July 1996 by the following roll call vote: AYES: Aguera, Jones, Sutton and Hemig.
