OF THE
TRUCKEE DONNER PUBLIC UTILITY DISTRICT
OPPOSING PROPOSITION 61
WHEREAS, Proposition 61 shall appear on the November 1986 ballot; and
WHEREAS, this initiative, the so—called "Fair Pay Amendment," will have a
detrimental effect on the ability of California governments to efficiently
deliver critical services which the state's taxpayers pay for and deserve;
and
WHEREAS, many devoted public servants, such as medical researchers ,
educators, judges and others will not be offered compensation competitive
with that available in the private sector; and
WHEREAS, this inequity in compensation under the "Fair Pay Amendment" could
force qualified public servants into the private sector; and
WHEREAS , through its provisions denying sick leave and vacation carry over,
the initiative would punish those public employees who are most
conscientious in their use of these benefits; and
'^ WHEREAS , Proposition 61 could actually result in higher , not lower ,
pensions for some already highly—compensated former public officials;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Truckee Donner Public Utility
District opposes Proposition 61 and urges its defeat by the voting public.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Directors of the Truckee Donner Public
Utility District at a regular meeting thereof duly called and held in the
District on the 6th day of October 1986 , by the following roll call vote:
AYES: Cooley, Corbett,'—tan-i- , Sutton and Maass.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
